The iconic Table Lamp Parola was designed by Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni in 1980. Three different types and processes of glass coexist in a single piece: blown, natural, and natural crystal. It represents an outstanding model of technical integration between craftsmanship and industry.
Parola’s diffuser is a colored opaline sphere perforated at the top, this version dated back in 1981 is in color pink, a tribute to the tradition of Murano glass. Three different types of glass for three different functions: support, structure, and light diffusion.
‘Parola was an instinctive thing, a sort of inventory of glass technologies’ by Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni. These two fellow designers, with the irony of assemblage, looked through the lens of Art Deco and Rationalism and successfully reinvented them with style and elegance by fusing aesthetics and functionality.
