A Week of Design and Art in London

This week in London has been one of those moments when the city truly feels alive. A place where design, art and creativity spill into every corner, from gallery spaces and showrooms to conversations over coffee. There’s a certain energy that builds when exhibitions, fairs and open doors all happen at once, reminding us why London remains such a compelling cultural capital.

On Monday 19 January, the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour hosted its Discovery Day, opening its doors for showroom open houses, product demonstrations, new collections and panel discussions. We were delighted to be open across Monday and Tuesday, welcoming designers, collectors and curious passersby into the Missy Decor pop up. It was a real pleasure to meet so many of you and to see such genuine interest in our mid-century furniture and pop art pieces.

There’s something particularly special about these open, conversational days, where ideas are exchanged as much as objects are admired. We are grateful to everyone who stopped by and spent time with us.

Beyond Chelsea Harbour, London has also been hosting another long standing favourite this week: The Decorative Fair. While Missy Decor isn’t exhibiting this year, it remains an important fixture on the calendar. For over 40 years, the fair has brought together respected dealers from across the UK and Europe, offering collectors and specialists the chance to discover distinctive antique and decorative pieces with character and history.

Adding to the atmosphere, London Art Fair is also in town this week, reinforcing the city’s position at the heart of the international art scene. Established in 1988, the fair brings together more than 120 carefully selected galleries from across the UK, Europe and beyond, presenting a strong mix of Modern and International Contemporary Art, from early 20th century works to today’s most exciting voices. It’s a reminder of how naturally London moves between eras, disciplines and perspectives.

Weeks like this highlight why London continues to be such an inspiring place. It’s where contemporary interiors, vintage finds, historic craftsmanship and modern international art sit comfortably side by side, constantly influencing and enriching one another.

London remains an epicentre of art and design, and moments like these never disappoint. Through fairs, exhibitions and open studios, we are surrounded by inspiration, creativity and beauty at every turn.
